Formula V Line FV-1000GM

Today, we’re taking a look at the new Formula V Line FV-1000GM power supply.

Let’s start with the interesting details. This PSU is fully modular and belongs to the ATX type, with a power rating of 1000W and an 80 Plus Gold certification, guaranteeing efficiency of up to 90%.

A key feature of this PSU is its 12V-2×6 cable for PCIe 5.1, which allows for direct connection of RTX 40/50 series graphics cards without any issues or adapters. According to the manufacturer’s claims, it is fully compliant with the ATX 3.1 standard, making it a solid contender against other options on the market.

In summary, it boasts:
• 80 Plus Gold certification
• ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 compliance
• A native 12V-2×6 cable
• 105°C Japanese capacitors
• A quiet 120mm fan
• A 10-year warranty

It is capable of handling both peak and sustained 1000W loads for extended periods, which is an excellent performance indicator. The cooler remains very quiet even under loads of 500-600W.

Now, let’s compare it to our previous PSU, the Lian Li RS 1000W Gold.  We already have an article on it, so we won’t discuss it in detail here but will simply provide a comparison.

So, what do we have?
• The dimensions of both are nearly identical, following the ATX form factor.
• Both deliver 1000W of power and carry the 80 Plus Gold certification.

However, they differ in their key features:

• The Formula PSU features the newer ATX 3.1 standard, a native 12V-2×6 cable (600W), and full PCIe 5.1 support.
• The  Lian li PSU comes with a 12VHPWR cable (also up to 600W) but supports only PCIe 5.0 and the ATX 3.0 standard. In comparison to the Formula model, it is likely to have a lower price and can be integrated into Lian Li’s unified L-Connect ecosystem.

It’s also worth noting that both PSUs have not yet entered mass availability. The estimated price for the Formula V Line FV-1000GM is around 180€, while the approximate price for the Lian Li model is around 140-150€.
